Popular Prawn Noodles in Singapore
Penang Ah Mei Hokkien Prawn Mee
This Hokkien Prawn Mee with Pork Ribs was first recommended by my Malaysian colleague for its traditional and flavorful soup. I introduced to my other Malaysian friends and they also like it and they mentioned it reminds them of the prawn mee soup back their hometown. So this seems to be truly Malaysia.
"Flavorful soup with the right amount of spiciness. Recommended and endorsed by my Malaysian friends for their traditional Malaysian flavors."

Kok Sen Restaurant
This Big Prawn Bee Hoon Soup cost $16 for the smallest portion and be prepared for the long waiting time. However, the outcome is that you get to enjoy the soup which is very flavorful, thick and spicy with hints of belacan.
"Big prawns which may have translated to higher price. The soup has higher level of spiciness and thickness which is also very flavorful."

Shun Shun Prawn Mee (顺顺虾面)
I like to order their dry mee kia. The texture of the mee kia is QQ and goes very well with the chili sauce. On top of that, i like to add the chili padi for the extra kick. Shiok! Their prawn noodles can be a tad oily however, it is very robust in taste and they garnish it with fried shallots for the extra flavors. It also comes with quite a generous serving of sliced fish cakes and prawns. At times when the prawns are smaller in size, they would add more prawns to make up the differences. Very honest hawker! The broth is also very rich and a bit sweet. Initially I do not really like it sweet, but after a few rounds, i got used to it and grown to love it. Its is unique and delicious! The prawn noodle soup costs $3.50 and dry version (picture below) costs $4.00. Every time after eating, i will feel very satisfied with both the noodles and soup. Shiok! They also offer other options with pork ribs/ pig tail.
"The cook likes to make loud 'clink, klang' noises with the cooking utensil as he prepare the noodles and you can hear it from a distance. I feel happy when I hear, at least i know the stall is open. Recommend to get their dry version: QQ mee kia (shiok!) and their (sweet) soup (shiok!)."

Wah Kee Big Prawn Noodle
Though I read that the broth at the original Pek Kio stall has much richer flavor, I was too lazy to join the long queue and went to the air-conditioned branch at Esplanade. The broth was not as tasty as I hoped. However, I think mee kia noodle and its yummy, fragrant chili sauce had compensated for the lacklustre broth. Its yummy enough to have it on its own.
"Esplanade brunch: Broth did not impress me, but the noodles with the sauces/seasoning did. "

Updated: 9 Nov 2017 We went to Pek Kio market and we find the soup was much tastier. Overall, seem to taste better as well.

Ah Fu Prawn Noodle
I am a regular supporter of this stall. The broth was richer years back, but i am still a loyal supporter of their dry prawn noodles for the overall spicy yummy flavor. My order preference: more chili, no bean sprouts and add Pork chop! I love this combination. Tip: you have to be really early for their pork chop. The pork chop may taste a bit dry but it is crunchy and it adds another dimension of texture and flavor to this bowl of prawn noodles. Dry Prawn Noodles cost $3 (additional of pork chop: $1).
"Recommend to get the dry version and go early for the pork chop combination."
