Authentic taste of Thai food, with a Twist - Greyhound Cafe, Paragon.

I read that apparently the owner of this popular Bangkok cafe chain does not like his food to be called 'fashion food'. But rather he would like people to remember his food as real and quality Thai food, with a twist.

I was there with friends for a late lunch and ordered a couple of dishes, drinks and dessert. The cafe decor was creative and chic in black and white. Smiling staffs were in T-shirts with caption that read “I don’t speak Thai, but I know the food here well” and the plates spelled out "fashion".

We ordered 2 sets of the Minced Chicken with Sweet Basil and Hot Chilies ($18).
This dish was really good stuff. The Minced Chicken was savoury, and not dry or oily. I have come across other Thai restaurants which have cooked this dish with too much vegetables and ended up with more vegetables than meat, or cooked too oily. Here you can have the solid taste of the basil minced meat. The egg was cooked perfectly with a bit of runny to go with the rice. It comes with soup which is pleasantly nice as well.

Unfortunately this mini pork ribs is a no-no for us. It is hard, dry and salty! I clarified with the smiley waiter if it is supposed to be this texture and taste. He replied that this dish is meant to be slight salty and chewy. Ok noted.

Next dish was Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings ($14).
Have you wonder why Thai Chicken wings are always so tiny? This dish is so-so to me.

I like this Fresh Coconut Crepe Cake ($13) for its light and thin crepes, layered with fresh cream and fresh coconut meat. I really appreciate this for the creativity, and making sure it tastes legit besides looking good as well.

The signature Granita Thai Tea ($9.50) was the concentrated version of Thai Milk Tea and this comes with strong Thai tea taste. It takes very long to melt too.

My friend ordered this pretty drink. She told me it taste ok, and she just need it for her instagram photo taking. :)

The Longan Juice in Crushed Ice ($8.50) is pretty standard and refreshing drink.
I would probably go back for the Minced Chicken with Sweet Basil and Hot Chilies and try out other dishes/desserts.
