What to eat at Tanjong Pagar Food Centre?
Tanjong Pagar Food Centre is a popular hawker centre with office workers and can get very crowded during lunch hours. It is about 5 minutes walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
5 stalls to look out for when you are there include: Rong Xing Yong Tau Fu, Ming Kee Cooked Food, Xiang Xiang Nasi Lemak, Issan Thai Food and Tian Xiang Ri Ji. These are the stalls which i frequently patronized when i was working with a client near this food centre.
Rong Xing Yong Tau Fu, #02-04 Opening Hours: 7:00am – 2.30pm (Mon – Sat), Closed Sun

Be sure to go early for lunch if you want to avoid the long waiting time during weekdays! This is one of my favorite Yong Tau Fu stall. There is quite a variety of ingredients and remember to request to add the fried ikan bilis for the extra crunch. Do not ignore the simple looking soup, it tastes like it has been boiled for many hours with soya bean goodness. The uncle at this stall is super friendly.
Ming Kee Cooked Food, #02-24 Opening Hours: 11am – 7pm (Mon – Fri), 11am – 2pm (Sat), Closed Sun

A cut above Cai Png/ Fan (economical rice). It stands out from most other similar stalls you find in hawker centre. The food is cooked with quality standards and you can feel the food is prepared with love.
Xiang Xiang Nasi Lemak, #02-08
Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday : 6am – 2pm (usually sold out by 12 noon), closed on Sunday

When I first saw the stall, it was having super long queue and the sign reads "Xiang Xiang". I jokingly told my colleague that this stall owner is so daring to call themselves "Xiang Xiang" (means "small nice" in Chinese), so i must give it a try to verify it. After trying it, i exclaimed to my colleague that it was indeed "Xiang Xiang". Their signboard is not for nothing! Their rice is fragrant and I like their fried golden stuff and stir-fry cabbage! The uncle is also friendly and humble.
Issan Thai Food, #02-13
Opening Hours: 11.30am to 10.00pm daily

This stall sells quite a variety of good quality Thai food starting from $4. I have tried their Basil Chicken Rice, Green Curry, Thai fried rice, Thai hor fun, Vermicelli and they all taste good!
On days when i wanted something simpler and more healthy, I would go for Tian Xiang Ri Ji. They sell fish soup in claypot. I always go for the fish slice with mee sua and their sambal chili go nicely with the fish slices.
