Popular Clinton Street Baking Company from NYC - I Heart their Pancakes!
We drove past this restaurant in the morning and the queue was ridiculously long and we decided to come back try later in the day. This cafe must have been serving really good quality food that have the people coming back since its opening in Singapore 2 years ago.
When we came back later in the day, the queue was shorter however the restaurant was fully packed and crowded. Tables were spaced closely. We quickly made our orders in anticipation for the pancakes.
Pancakes with Warm Maple Butter— $19.00 and blueberries. It comes with choice of blueberries, banana walnut, or chocolate chunks. Of course, our choice is blueberries since it is well-known for its famous blueberry pancakes and top grade maple butter. The pancakes are fluffy and airy. The blueberry is naturally sweet (not sour or artificially sweet). The maple butter has a very robust maple flavor. This proves to be the best pancakes we have tried so far!
Buttermilk Fried Chicken Plate — $25.00. It comes with honey-Tabasco sauce, slaw,and jalapeno corn bread. The chicken is slight crispy and tender, however lacks the moisture. Similarly the Jalapeno corn bread tasted quite dry as well, we left it alone after one bite.
Chicken & Waffles — $21.00. It comes with honey-Tabasco sauce drizzled over a soft vanilla buttermilk waffle, and signature warm maple butter. Unfortunately the waffles taste a bit flat and similarly the chicken is dry (than the above since its just breast meat). Its saving grace was the flavorful maple butter.
Root Beer Float — $10.00, comes with vanilla ice cream, root beer, with Chantilly cream
Salted Caramel — $10.00 comes with vanilla ice cream, salted caramel sauce,with Chantilly cream. You can add a shot of Bourbon for 5.00.
We find the drinks too thick and filling for our liking, and perhaps should have settled for their coffee/tea.
Overall, the Pancakes with Warm Maple Butter and blueberries is really the best we have tasted so far and we will come back for it. Soft, fluffy pancakes with awesome signature maple butter and naturally sweet blueberries. This is world-class standard!
